The track allowed Austin to race only if a waiver was signed by his parents. It proved to be a great decision as Austin captured 16 feature wins on route to a point’s championship at Shippensburg Speedway and a fourth place points finish at Hunterstown Speedway.
In 2006, Austin having an outstanding year was the youngest, at the age of 14, to win the senior champ division championship at Hunterstown Speedway.
While racing champ karts, Austin won 42 features and had 21 second place finishes, 13 third place finishes, 6 fourth place finishes and 2 fifth place finishes.
In 2007, Austin and his crew took the big leap from champ carts into 358 sprint cars! As a first year 358 sprint car racer, Austin established himself as a force to be reckoned with by qualifying for every feature and being one of the youngest to win a feature event. Austin finished his first year, at the age of 15, in a very respectable 11th place in points for the year.
